BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County was represented at the New York City Marathon Sunday as a group of runners made their way to the Big Apple.
Local runners Donna Winkely, Jackie Holmes, Alan Holmes and Chrissy young all competed in the marathon Sunday morning, according to Winkely's social media and the NYC Marathon participant tracker.

Sunday's race is the 49th Annual Marathon. Over 50,000 runners were expected to compete from over 125 countries. Every U.S. state was represented in the run.
The first place prize for the Men's and Women's races is $100,000.
