Record Temperatures could be challenged in the week ahead
Posted
and last updated

Kern County will see hot and dry weather through this weekend! We could see temperatures around 10-15 degrees above average in the San Joaquin Valley and Kern Desert for the holiday weekend. Record breaking temperatures may be challenged, as we will see widespread triple digit heat.

Along with this heat, we will continue to see hazy skies due to wildfire smoke. An air quality alert was lifted for Kern County on Saturday night at 5. On Monday we will see an AQI of 129, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. We have since moved out of the category of unhealthy for the general population.

We can expect sunny and stable conditions over the next several days, with no rain.
