BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is getting ready to host a Community Academy in April. The department is looking for residents interested in learning more about how law enforcement works in the field to keep the community safe.

The academy starts on April 2ND and will last 11 weeks. Each week a new topic will be covered including the history of the department, patrol procedures, jail operations and volunteer services. The deadline to apply for the April session is March 8, 2019.
