Kern County Superior Courthouse to allow members of the media and public into court proceedings

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Superior Courthouse announced it is reopening court proceedings to members of the press and the public, subject to social distancing recommendations.

Those observing proceedings in-person must remain at least 6 feet away from all court participants and those attending the hearing. Judicial officers presiding over the hearing may also limit access and impose other restrictions.

The order was issued Monday by Kern Presiding Judge Judith K. Dulcich who acknowledged the Constitution generally holds courtroom proceedings must remain open to the public.

Anyone wishing to enter a Kern courthouse must wear a face covering
