Fore no more? Kern Valley Golf course officials confirmed with 23 ABC the local golf course closed Tuesday and will remain closed until an undetermined date due to financial struggles.

Officials say the course has experienced a drop in support and can no longer pay employees. The course's problems began five years ago, however the last two years have been the worst.

Employees say recent droughts have impacted maintaining the course and the sprinkler system is plugged by sand. 

Shareholders will meet September 8 at 1 p.m. to determine next steps.
