A man suspected of murdering his mother and step-father inside their home will face a judge Tuesday.

Tuesday staff held a moment of silence to honor and remember Kim Higginbotham, who was a teacher at Princeton Street School for 15 years.
Derek Connell, 29, was arrested Saturday, April 30th, after officers took him in for questioning regarding the double murder on Lily Pad Court in Northwest Bakersfield. He is facing two counts of first degree murder and being held without bail.
The coroner identified the two bodies as Kim and Christopher Higginbotham.
Connell's hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m..
