Man arrested for arson after fire breaks out in Canebrake early Sunday morning

A man was arrested for arson in Canebrake Sunday.

Canebrake is located in northeastern Kern County.

Around 4:30 a.m. Kern County Fire Department responded to reports of a mobile home, several cars and some grass and brush on fire in the 30100 block of Highway 178 in Canebrake. 

Initial reports are that the fire burned around a 1/4-1/2 an acre of land.

Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff's Office also responded to the fire and arrested Jeffery Hudson, 53, who was found at a nearby residence and arrested after he admitted to starting the fire. 

Hudson was booked in to the Central Receiving Facility for arson.

The investigation was turned over to the Kern County Fire Arson Investigation Unit. 

Hudson is currently being held on $25,000 bail.
