Man arrested for felony hit-and-run following vehicle vs. motorcycle crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department arrested 48-year-old Joseph Ciocatto for felony hit and run charges following a vehicle versus motorcycle crash that left a man in critical condition.

According to BPD, on Sept. 24, officers responded to the intersection of Monterey Street and Inyo Street regarding a hit and run crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival they found a man down in the roadway suffering from major injuries.

The investigation revealed the injured man was riding an off-road motorcycle southbound on Inyo Street when he attempted to cross Monterey Street and was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The vehicle that struck the motorcyclist fled the scene.

Investigators located Ciocatto and his vehicle, which was found to have damage consistent with the collision. Ciocatto was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail.
