Man arrested for threatening to sexually assault coffee shop employees

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 23-year-old man has been arrested for threatening to sexually assault employees at a Downtown Bakersfield coffee shop.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, on April 5, officers responded to Blue Oak Coffee Roasting Company, located at 1717 20th Street, regarding a criminal threats investigation. BPD says a man threatened to sexually assault employees at the business before eventually fleeing.

One of the owners of the coffee shop, Benadette Sebastiani said that after a customer bought a transient man coffee, the man began acting strangely and threatened those within the store.

Sebastiani said that she screamed for the man to leave, but he threatened to return.

BPD says after further investigation, officers identified 23-year-old Joshua Harris as the suspect.

Harris was located on April 12 and arrested. BPD says he was transported and booked into the Kern County Jail.
