Man found dead in house fire in East Bakersfield identified

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The man who was found dead in a house fire in East Bakersfield last month has been identified.

According to the Kern County Coroner, around 8:21 p.m. on April 27, 64-year-old Cecilio Ibanez was found dead in a house fire in the 1800 block of Corrientes Street in East Bakersfield.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire near the area of Corrientes Street and College Avenue around 8:20 p.m. on April 27. Upon arrival, crews found a a duplex mutli-family structure on fire.

As they began to fight the blaze, they uncovered the body of a man.

Arson units were called to investigate as crews put out the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause and manner of Ibanez's death are pending further studies.
