BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — KCSO today announced that the man who died during a rockslide near CALM Zoo has been identified as 56-year-old Doren James Strane.
Sunday night BPD was alerted of a rockslide off Alfred Harrell Highway near CALM Zoo. Hikers told officers they believe a man was trapped beneath the rubble.
Monday morning the man's body was recovered by The Kern County Coroner's Office and Bakersfield Fire and Bakersfield Police.
Currently officials have ruled his death accidental, but will have a definitive cause of death following a postmortem examination.
