Man sentenced to two life sentences for crash that killed mother and daughter

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The man convicted of killing a mother and daughter in a crash on Taft Highway while he was drunk behind the wheel will serve two, consecutive 15-to-life sentences.

Vincent Moroyoqui was convicted in April on two second degree murder charges, as well as two felony charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

He was charged in the 2017 crash that killed 51-year-old Raeleen Sorensen and her 19-year-old daughter Raegen, The mother and daughter were traveling on Taft Highway near Buena Vista Road when investigators say Moroyoqui slammed into their car.

23ABC News previously found Moroyoqui had been charged with a DUI three times over the past 15 years. The District Attorney's office says Moroyoqui was covicted on two DUI charges and one "wet reckless" charge over that time.
