BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Pie-lover's rejoice - the Marie Callender’s Restaurant on California Avenue in Bakersfield is set to re-open on Wednesday.

In August, the parent company for Marie Callender’s and Perkins restaurants declared bankruptcy and closed stores across the country. According to Reuters, the company filed as a result of poor performance caused by rising labor and food costs and fewer customers.

New owners Bob LaRue and Dave McDonough, who own the Marie Callender’s in Azusa, CA, are set to re-open the location on California Avenue.

“When we heard that the Bakersfield Marie Callender’s was closing, we immediately went to work to bring it back. This is an exciting day for us and the staff. And for the many patrons we have heard from who want their Marie’s back," said LaRue in a statement.

After the restaurant re-opens, the location will be having a "pie sale" throughout the month of October. A remodel is planned in early 2020.
