SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Representatives Kevin McCarthy, Ken Calvert (CA-42), Devin Nunes (CA-22), Tom McClintock (CA-04), Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) and Paul Cook (CA-08) released the following statement regarding the recently announced Incidental Take Permit issued by Gov. Newsom.

“Under this new Incidental Take Permit, the state has bowed to environmental groups by denying critical water to two-thirds of the population of California. This not only comes during a time of a national emergency when our essential agricultural producers are working to keep food on our nation’s grocery store shelves, but also makes litigation all but certain. Despite the Governor’s talk of a new approach to California water, this Newsom Standard is more of the same – putting fish before families. While the state pursued its own permit as a knee-jerk reaction to the Trump Administration’s actions, it is the Newsom Standard that ignores the best science and latest data, doubling down on decades of failed water policy. We call on the Newsom Administration to change its Incidental Take Permit to align with the new federal permits to ensure our constituents get the water they need and deserve.”
