Motorcyclist killed in crash on Planz Road, BPD investigating speed as a cause

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Planz Road, near Planz Elementary, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

BPD said around 12:49 p.m. the BPD responded to the 2400 block of Planz Road regarding a major injury collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

BPD said that speed appears to be a factor in this crash. This is the 38th fatal motor vehicle collision in 2020 within the jurisdiction of the Bakersfield Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
