BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A motorcyclist that collided with an SUV while doing a "wheelie" on Friday has died from his injuries.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department,officers were called to the area of Gosford Road and District Blvd. around 1:30 p.m. Friday for a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle. They determined the man was riding southbound on Gosford Rd. doing a "wheelie." While riding on one wheel, he collided with an SUV making a U-turn on Gosford Rd.
The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital with moderate to major injuries and was listed in critical.
Police said the driver of the SUV was uninjured and remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. A passenger in the SUV had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released at this time.
