BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Public Health Department said the Nile Star Chinese Restaurant, located at 2830 Niles Street, was closed after receiving an inspection score of 60%.

According to Public Health, inspectors reported multigenerational cockroaches in the facility and noted the operator of the restaurant failed to "recognize the health risk associated with rodent droppings and urine in a food facility."

Inspectors also reported the restaurant had remained in operation during an active vermin infestation.

Public Health said inspectors also observed potentially hazardous food being cooled via an unapproved method. Inspectors also reported debris on the floors and on equipment.
