BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One person died Tuesday in a crash on the northbound Highway 99, according to the California Highway patrol.
The crash happened around 10:25 P.M. on NB 99 near Merced Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 37-year-old Santa Maria man was driving a 1998 Honda when he was rear-ended by a big rig.
Due to the impact of the crash, the vehicle caught fire and that driver died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
