BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Southern California Edison says around 4,533 Kern County residents are without power thanks to Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and another 324 customers are under consideration for PSPS.

SCE said nearly 5,000 customers in Los Angeles and Ventura counties lost had their power, shutoff on Thanksgiving to prevent any wildfires from being sparked by damage to power lines during strong winds.

More than 100,000 customers are still at risk of losing power, including those in Kern County. The advisement was set to end at 9 a.m. Friday, but a red flag warning of extreme fire danger is in effect for a large area of Southern California due to dry Santa Ana winds.

Those Santa Ana winds were expected to last until Saturday.
