Pacific Gas & Electric Company is offering free safety checks of gas applications to help customers prepare for winter.

Local gas service technical will examine all natural gas applications including furnaces and ensure carbon monoxide detectors are in properly working order.

The inspection can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the number of appliances and their location.

Customers can schedule an inspection by calling 1-800-743-5000.

Last year, PG&E performed 102,543 safety checks throughout the company’s 70,000 square mile service territory.
