UPDATE (9/30) -- The motorcyclist in the incident died after suffering from life threatening injuries. The name of the motorcyclist has not yet been identified.

Emergency crews responded to a crash between a motorcycle and a California Water Service truck in Southwest Bakersfield on Thursday, the Bakersfield Police Department said.
The crash was reported in the area of Wible and Planz Roads at around 3:48 p.m., near Highway 99.
A motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Planz Road approaching the Chumley Street intersection.
The investigation revealed the pickup stopped facing south on Chumley Street pulled out in the way of the oncoming motorcyclist to make a left turn onto Planz Road. The motorcyclist hit the side of the pickup.
The motorcycle driver was rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the Cal Water truck wasn't injured.
Drugs and alcohol were not a factor for the pickup driver. It is unknown if drugs and alcohol were involved for the motorcyclist.
