UPDATE (5:00 PM): According to CalTrans, GRAPEVINE, Northbound I-5 is now OPEN. Southbound I-5 is now OPEN but is reduced to 2 lanes as crews continue to work clearing the roadway. Expect delays as traffic begins clearing the area.
UPDATE (3:10 PM): The California Highway Patrol said both lanes of Interstate 5 are now closed due to smoke caused by a big rig fire near the base of the Grapevine.

Caltrans announced that Southbound Interstate 5 is closed near the base of the Grapevine due to a big rig fire with smoke covering all southbound lanes.
Kern County Fire is responding to the scene.
There is no estimated time of reopening.
