Posted

The hit and run death of a Shafter woman has been ruled an "accident" by the Kern County Coroner's Office, officials said Friday.

Guadalupe Govea, 45, died on August 14 after she was hit by a vehicle in her driveway on S. Shafter Ave.

Coroner's Office investigators announced Friday that she died of blunt injuries and "the manner of death is accident".

The Shafter Police Department is still looking for Jose De Jesus Godoy Guitron in connection to the case. Investigators announced Tuesday that Guitron was the driver who hit Govea and who "fled the scene after the incident".

Govea's family members told 23ABC News that Govea and Guitron had been in an abusive relationship.
