BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — COVID-19 has impacted many aspects of life throughout 2020, including your taxes. One local tax preparer said that is why he is offering a special deal for those impacted by the pandemic.

Al Afrouzian, the owner of Al's Services, Bookkeeping and Tax, said the first 50 people that make an appointment with him will have their tax preparations costs waived. He said he will waive up to $250 in fees for these customers.

Afrouzian said if this works out, he may consider offering the same deal for even more customers.

He is also offering workshops to teach accounting to those interested in a career change or assistance with their own business.

You can make an appointment and find out more by calling (661) 836-8382.

The filing deadline to submit 2021 tax returns or an extension to file and pay tax owed is Monday, April 18, 2022, for most taxpayers. By law, Washington, D.C., holidays impact tax deadlines for everyone in the same way federal holidays do. The due date is April 18, instead of April 15, because of the Emancipation Day holiday in the District of Columbia for everyone except taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts. Taxpayers in Maine or Massachusetts have until April 19, 2022, to file their returns due to the Patriots' Day holiday in those states. Taxpayers requesting an extension will have until Monday, October 17, 2022, to file.
