Tejon looking to expand by adding new homes

Tejon looking to expand by adding new homes

Build it and they will come.  It’s all part of a project that has been years in the making and today the board plans to move that much closer to making it a reality.

The board of supervisors will be looking to approve the Grapevine project by Tejon Ranch Company.

The project would build at least 12,000 homes and 5.1 million square feet of commercial and residential development in that area.

Project developers say when it's all said and done the Grapevine would have more homes than Delano has now -- making it the biggest Kern county community after Bakersfield.

New homes, condos, apartments, and about 10-thousand jobs are expecting to come out of it -- making it now only a great destination for shopping but a place to live as well.

The Kern county board of sup's will look at this project today and if approved will go through the state and federal permitting processes.

If approved, it may take up to 20-years to complete.
