The Bakersfield Police Department held a Lift-A-Thon Sunday. Officers on the department's physical fitness committee met at the NAS Power Gym at 7 a.m. that morning.
They competed in all sorts of events like bench presses, dead lifts and squats. The Lift-A-Thon benefited the Police Activities League and the Mission at Kern County. This not only aims to keep officers in peak physical condition but to build lasting partnerships within the community.
The competition will also have an impact on the lives of eight children from Camp Owens and Kern Crossroads.
