The man who shot two Bakersfield Police Officers in South Bakersfield last week died by homicide, the Kern County Coroner's Office announced Friday.

Following an autopsy, officials say Issac Cervantes, 22, died after he sustained 'multiple gunshot wounds' and the manner of death is homicide.

Investigators say Cervantes shot and wounded BPD officers Matthew Johnson and Joshua Deutinger, who opened fire on Cervantes, killing him. Both officers are expected to survive their injuries and are on routine administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
