Nearly five months since her death, an ever-lasting memorial will be planted in memory of Gabriela Soto, the woman who was killed in a crash in June.
Soto was pregnant at the time of the crash. Her unborn daughter, who was going to be named Alba Elliott, was also killed in the crash.
California oak and sycamore trees will be planted at Beach Park on Saturday in memory of Soto and Alba. The Tree Foundation of Kern is donating 10 trees to be planted in their honor.
In a press release, Soto's family said, "Gabby adored nature and all living things, especially trees. What better way to honor her memory and that of baby Alba's than to plant trees and share their beauty with future generations in Bakersfield."
The tree planting is set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Beach Park.
