BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two people are displaced and another in the hospital after the Kern County Fire Department put out a duplex on fire in Oildale Wednesday morning.
Just after 10 a.m., KCDF responded to a two-unit duplex and detached garage on fire. Neighbors alerted the residents of the duplex to the fire and helped them out.
Firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading to other homes in close proximity and searched for additional residents inside.
While conducting searches for residents one pet dog was found under burning debris, it was quickly removed unharmed. One resident, who was assisted out of the home by neighbors, was taken by Hall Ambulance for evaluation and treatment at a local hospital.
There were no other injuries to civilians or firefighters reported. Damage from the fire is estimated to be around $70,000 lost.
