Two students arrested for stabbing at BHS

Two students have been arrested for a stabbing that happened during a fight yesterday on the Bakersfield High School campus.

On October 18, a student was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in the shoulder during a fight. The injury happened during a fight on the campus. After an investigation conducted by Kern High School District Police, two BHS students were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on campus. KHSD officers did recover the knife used in the fight. 

A lockdown was not issued for the fight yesterday. KHSD says that according to their protocol, a lockdown would not be called for under those circumstances.

According to KHSD, additional KHSD police officers and campus supervisors will be on the BHS campus today. KHSD said that the fight was not gang related.

Student and staff safety is a priority in the Kern High School District.  On Thursday, 10-18-18 at about 10:00 am, a fight occurred on the campus of Bakersfield High School (BHS).  A student suffered a stab wound to the shoulder during the fight and has since been treated and released from a local hospital.  During the subsequent investigation, Kern High School District Police were able to identify the participants in the fight and on 10-19-18, two BHS students were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on campus.  Officers have recovered the knife used in the stabbing. As an precaution, additional KHSD police officers and campus supervisors will be on the BHS campus today.
