BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Wednesday night over one hundred clinicians participated in the first Valley Fever Symposium hosted by the Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical.

The symposium was an opportunity for experts to educate local clinicians on the disease they say is often misdiagnosed. According to Kern Public Health there were over 3000 people infected with Valley Fever last year.

The mission of the Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical is to increase education & awareness for the public, patients and health care providers.

Organizers hope this symposium is the first of many in the future.
