BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Family and friends gathering for a vigil to honor the life of an infant who died over the weekend after recently falling from an apartment window last week.

Bakersfield Police said the baby died on Saturday, after falling out and apartment window Thursday morning at an apartment on Union Avenue near Seventh Street in East Bakersfield.

Family identifying the baby only as "baby Mark" as they and close family friends gathered Monday night at the apartment complex for a candlelight vigil.

Baby Mark's grandmother saying the parents of the Mark are trying to stay strong but it's hard.

According to the BPD the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
