A new academic article says the U.S. must more than triple COVID-19 testing to safely re-open the economy.

Researchers at Harvard's Global Health Institute and School of Public Health say the goal should be at least 500,000 tests a day. As of now, the number's are closer to 150,000.

Researchers say the percentage of positive tests is still too high as of now which indicates that the U.S. does not have a grasp on the severity of the COVID-19 crisis.

The World Health Organization has suggested that an adequate test positive rate should be between three and twelve percent and it reports that in the U.S. it's still sitting around a 20 percent.
