WASHINGTON D.C. — The House Committee on Homeland Security will dig deeper into the response to COVID-19 in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilities.

The committee is scheduled to meet Monday with contractors who run ICE facilities such as Mesa Verde right here in Bakersfield.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in jails and prisons across the country, the committee will discuss how contractors are handling outbreaks at their facilities.

The hearing is set to take place in Washington D.C. this morning starting at 2 p.m. EST.
