BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Democrats hosted a watch party Wednesday for the Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Committee Chair Christian Romo said the Inauguration was a unique one, and he hopes the administration will help unite the country. Romo also said he hopes for a peaceful transition for the new president.

He noted that points in the president's speech speak directly to Kern County.

"The threat of domestic terrorism is high, it's a problem that we're going to need to face and combat that head-on. That even means here in Kern County," he said. "We all have different backgrounds, we all have different cultural and religious beliefs, but at the end of the day we all love where we live."

Romo said that the Kern County Democrats are excited to see how the new administration will impact their party here locally.

He also hopes that this administration is able to ignite a new generation that is willing to unite and work together, no matter political beliefs.
