BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Alzheimer's Foundation of America has announced that it has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County in Bakersfield to provide respite care services for families affected by the disease and other dementia-related illnesses.
The grant funding will support the ADAKC adult day program which provides social engagement and cognitive stimulation for those with Alzheimer's disease.
“ADAKC works tirelessly to provide the community with access to affordable, quality respite care," Julie Juarez-Ceja, Community Liaison and Educator for ADAKC, said. "We are honored to be recognized by AFA and given the opportunity to further our mission of improving the lives of those on the Alzheimer’s journey.”
