The Tulare County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting involving at least one officer from the California Highway Patrol's Bakersfield office.
The incident began Friday night when a CHP officer from Mojave tried to stop an SUC in Tehachapi. The driver took off in a pursuit that rolled through Bakersfield where local CHP officers took over. The sheriff's department helicopter also joined the pursuit.
The chase ended in Tulare County when the vehicle stopped and the driver reportedly got out with a gun. That's when CHP says an officer-involved shooting took place.
The driver was identified as Pablo Urenda from Grand Junction, Colorado. His injuries are non-life-threatening.
He was taken into custody and faces a charge of attempted murder.
The Tulare County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation.
