David Paul Edmiston has been charged with misdemeanor illegal eavesdropping.

Edmiston allegedly recorded confidential communications, without consent, with an electronic recording device. Charges have been filed for four separate occurrences.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred while Edmiston was acting chief of the Kern High School District Police Department. An arraignment date has not been set.
