BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — This week on Episode 8 of Breaking the Cycle of Gang Violence, we talk to Delano Police Department Chief Robert Nevarez. He discusses the gang situation in Delano, the changes he would like to see, and how he plans to move forward.
"It's going to take something out of the box. It's got to be creative, resourceful... what we've been doing hasn't been working. I'd like to say 'yeah, we'll just keep doing what we're doing', but it's not working. There's more violence now than there was 30 years ago." said Chief Nevarez.
He also discusses his childhood and an update on the investigation into the case where two young girls were shot and killed.
