LAMONT, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified 37-year-old Frazier Park resident Eric Nikolas Futrell as the man shot and killed in Lamont Monday.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, Futrell was found in the area of Fuller Dr. and Weedpatch Highway. Deputies provided medical aid to him but Futrell was pronounced dead at the scene.

KCSO arrested 26-year-old Jonathan Villapando in connection to the shooting.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, deputies found Villapando in a nearby orchard and took him into custody without incident.

Officials said Villapando will be booked into the Kern County Jail.

Officials said the shooting on Monday is not related to the shooting in the same area approximately a week ago.
