Second arrest made in deadly Motel 6 shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A second person was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting at a Motel 6 in East Bakersfield in December.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrested and booked 37-year-old Benjamin Bravo of Bakersfield was arrested for murder and attempted murder. He is due in court on Thursday at 3 p.m.

One other person, 29-year-old Jose Chavez, was arrested on Dec. 15, 2019 in connection to this case. He was also booked for murder and attempted murder.

According to officials, on Dec. 12, 2019 around 7 a.m., deputies found 30-year-old Daniel Arturo Gil shot and two others injured when they entered the hotel located at 8223 Brundage Lane.

The other two victims were treated and released.
