Bakersfield Police Department arrests man for murder of 38-year-old woman found dead near Tommy's Liquor Store

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Wednesday, Bakersfield Police announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man for the murder of Sara Bustamante. Officials said Keontay Shoemake was arrested at his home and was taken into custody without incident.

Last month, officials identified 38-year-old Bustamante as the body foundnear Tommy's Liquor Store on Chester Avenue. She was also the same woman who was mistakenly pronounced dead by the coroner back in 2014.

Shoemake was arrested for murder, criminal threats, illegal weapons possession and gang participation. He was transported and booked into the Kern County jail.
