KCSO: Two arrested in connection to New Years Day homicide in Lamont

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the New Years Day homicide in Lamont that left 38-year-old Luciano Jose Ramos dead.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, 34-year-old Ricardo Tapia was arrested for murder, attempted murder and conspiring to commit a crime. 34-year-old Melissa Avila had a warrant for accessory to a crime.

According to KCSO, around 1:27 a.m. on January 1, deputies were dispatched to the 8900 block of Hall Road for an assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies arrived, they found Ramos with apparent stab wounds to his upper body. He was transported to the hospital with major injuries. Ramos later died at Kern Medical ICU on Tuesday, January 8.

Both Tapia and Avila were arrested without incident by El Centro Police.
