LAMONT, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a person of interest in a New Year's Day homicide.
According to KCSO, on January 1, 2019, 38-year-old Luciano Jose Ramos was assaulted near 8900 Hall Road in Lamont. Ramos later died at Kern Medical ICU on Tuesday, January 8 at approximately 4:12 a.m.
Through an investigation, KCSO says 34-year-old Ricardo Tapia, Jr. was identified and arrested for murder. Thirty-four-year-old Melissa Avila was arrested and booked for accessory to murder. Both Tapia, Jr. and Avila remain in custody pending court proceedings.
KCSO says 18-year-old Ricardo Tapia III has been identified as a person of interest in Ramos' death. He is the son of Ricardo Tapia, Jr.
