Avery is your Frazier Park, Pine Mountain Club, and Grapevine Neighborhood Reporter!

Avery Elowitt is a Multimedia Journalist at 23ABC. She joined the team in October of 2023 after graduating from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Journalism and a minor in Media Arts, Society, and Technology. Throughout college, Avery balanced her internship at the KCBX Public Radio station as a news reporter with her video reporting with Mustang News. Right out of college, she took up a producing internship at a local news station in Santa Barbara until she found her new home in Kern County.

Avery’s journalism journey started with her passion for storytelling– through short films and documentaries and anyway she could get her hands on a camera. Through her major, she fell in love with exploring the local community and bringing light to local voices.

Outside of the newsroom, Avery loves to crochet, watch movies, and play some video games here and there. Otherwise, she can be found exploring the county or searching for her next go-to coffee shop.
